    Coolant Confusion/Frustration?

Ok, I’ve searched and read and searched some more.

I have a 2017 RAM 2500 and will install a City Diesel turbo actuator.

    Is this coolant suitable?

    If not, any recommendations?

    Peak Final Charge Pro-Seri,es, maybe?

If you have a 2017, you need to use OAT antifreeze.

I personally recommend using Mopar antifreeze.

If it’s compatible with the MS number listed in your owner's manual or on the sticker under your hood.

Mixing the orange and purple together so that the MS numbers don’t match what the manufacturer's recommendations say will cause it to gel, which would clog the radiator and heater core.

Cool, this is what it says on the tech sheet.

The reservoir in mine says MS-12106.

Recommended for use where the following requirements and specifications are cited*: + FCA/Chrysler MS-7170, MS-9769, MS-12106

    Re: Coolant Confusion/Frustration?

Ughhh, I’m going through this right now, and you stand correct; it is frustrating!

I always buy Mopar, so last year, I ran out of my coolant jug (pinkish/orange), and of course, I didn’t think of taking a pic of it, so when i went to the dealership, I told them what I needed and, they told me I needed MS 9769.

I did not open it till a couple of weeks ago to top off the reservoir, but it’s a different color, so I googled it, and it says not to mix with OAT MS 12106.

The truck has been sitting since I’m scared to drive it until I top it off.

It’s not super low, but I want it completed before I do.

So, today, I went to the dealership and brought up what they had sold me last year.

They said I needed the purple one, but I asked if I could combine the two, and he said NO, plus it was concentrated, and I don’t want that headache anyway.

He then returned and talked to the tech and said I needed MS 90032.

I just googled the MS numbers, and it said Chrysler changed the MS numbers.

Good grief, he then recommended I get a coolant flush done and start fresh.

The truck only has 67,000 miles.

I told him I would get back to them.

So, when I got home, I called my boys at the shop, and they said they would look at it next week and see if I would need a flush, and if so, they would do it as they are the only ones that touch my truck.

    Thanks for listening, LOL!

It's frustrating; you are correct and should be running OAT MS-12106.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH, Bob!

    I appreciate the link!!

And why couldn’t the dealership provide me with that info?

Instead, they just gave me the runaround!!! Grrrrrrr!!!

    Right !!!!

I honestly felt it was deliberate how they kept telling me I needed this jug; nope, this is the jug you need.

Once I knew who the tech was, I watched him; he wouldn't even look at me, which tells me right there what kind of person he was.

What I need to do is go in and talk to the owner's son and tell him what a sh*t show of clowns he has working behind the counter!!!
