    P056E Code?

Does anybody else with a 5th Gen have a P056E code?

It seems to be a generic code, and I can't find any info on it.

No other codes are coming up with it.

If I clear it and immediately start the truck back up, it doesn't come back.

If the truck is shut off for 5-10 mins, it will come back within a handful of miles the next time I drive it.

Frustrating, but it doesn't seem to affect anything.

I think that is an EGR code.

It can also be a phantom code on some trucks and pop for no good reason.

The day before I started getting this code and CEL, I had pulled the def pump to empty and dry out the DEF tank before winter; I didn't know if that could have anything to do with it.

I did undercoat with fluid film, too, but I can't imagine that would have done anything.

    Re: P056E Code?

Well finally figured out where this code was coming from.

The day before I started getting this code and CEL, I changed the oil and all filters, undercoated it with fluid film, pulled the DEF pump, and completely emptied and dried out the DEF tank.

At first, I thought it must be something stupid about completely emptying the DEF tank, so I put a couple of gallons of water in it and still got the same code.

Researching online was a dead end other than what little info I could find, it seemed to be paired with a P0299 under boost code typically.

I checked elec connections at turbo, PCM, and intake still getting the code.

I researched the P0299 code more, even though I was only getting the P056E code, and found a post about non-Mopar air filters causing the P0299 code.

On a whim, I pulled a brand new NAPA.

GOLD air filter and put the old NAPA GOLD air filter back in with no more code or CEL.

Hard to believe these newer trucks are that sensitive.

Anyway, I thought I could save someone the same headache by posting an update.

So you're saying you pulled the Napa new filter out and put the old Napa air filter back in that is the exact same filter, and it fixed your issue?

    Thanks for the update.

    Yes.

Since I wasn't getting the CEL and code with the old filter, I decided to put it back in so I would know that it wasn't filter-related if the code returned.

Something may have changed with their filters, as the old one has an orange rubber seal, and the new one is black.

Try going with an OEM filter and see if the code pops back up.
