    Factory Replacement Gas/Oil Filter Help

I hope I’m writing in the correct section if not please advise.

I have a 2015 RAM 2500 6.7 CTD 4x4 and I’m looking to get away from the factory Oil and fuel filters.

I’m looking for factory replacement parts I know AmsOil has a good reputation but I’ve also heard great things about Fleetguard.

What’s your take on the best factory replacement Rear Water separator, Front fuel media filter and oil Filter?

Does anyone have part numbers I could get and if there’s some underlying issue with using another filter replacement feel free to school me please.

This is what I’ve found so far:

    Factory Fuel water separator

    68197867AA Fleetguard pn# FS20089

    Media Filter 68157291AA Fleetguard pn# FS53000

**** I cannot find the Oil Filter thou and I believe Mopar part # is a 05083285AA.

Again what’s the best no hassle filters and anyone using any of these.

I read some horror stories of guys using different filters and getting issues like not enough fuel pressure etc .

    Thanks In advance!

Oh and some parts fail off my truck yesterday , my truck sounds and drives really different

    Factory Replacement Gas/Oil Filter Help

I use Mopar fuel filters front and rear.

They have the exact same micron rating as fleetguard but are cheaper in price.

Oil filter I use the fleet guard with the long service life.

Airs filters I use either fleet or Mopar.

Doesn’t really matter except for the pricing.

Both are both made by the same company.

On Oil I have been using Hot Shots diamond brand.

Check with one of our vendors @Geno’s Garage or @DDP

That’s where I purchase all my filter and oil needs and you can’t beat their prices.

    Factory Replacement Gas/Oil Filter Help

    https://dieselfuelfilterkits.com/13_...ilter_kit.html

This is the kit I have on my truck.

It uses a cat filter 1r-0750 and has a 2 micron rating.

I use the factory water/fuel separator and I am going on over 30K on the filter under the hood.

No need to change it because of the cat filter I run.

I simply remove it check it and really only reason to change it is due to algae growth.

I do change the separator and cat filter regularly.

There are some threads about this that have been talked about.

Aftermarket swaps to go to cat, Baldwin or fleetguard filters.

Black market performance also has some really good kits.

    Factory Replacement Gas/Oil Filter Help

I have the same kit as listed above - but after researching a issue with Aluminum on Aluminum (Galling Issue) - I quickly attempted to remove the original Cat filter - that I had only snuggly tightened previously (First Install) - only after about 50 -to- 100 miles it took both hands & a filter wrench to remove.

I then installed a true 3 micron Absolute @ 99% --> Donaldson DBF5817 - (No aluminum filter base) - no more galling issue.

I know there are a few much more expensive (more efficient set ups) - I chose the above kit for the simple price point along with the use of a True/Actual - White paper data (Stating 3 micron Absolute @ 99%) - Most fuel filters will not do this!
Along with the very efficient (Yet Expensive OEM set up)

I'm not into creating a high horsepower 6.7L - so my signature down below does not detail many thousands of $$$ worth of mods but the Fluids that are being run for years of preventive maintenance (Until the time comes to remove all this Evil).

Note: I have made sure to run a 15-20 micron water separator filter - along with a 5 -10 micron (Polisher) filter up front under the hood (leaving in service for at least 30K miles).

Letting the 3 micron Absolute @ 99% DBF5817 do 3/4 of the work - Thus not putting a ton of stress on the OEM tank fuel pump.

Time (many years) will tell whether or not my decisions/choices were well thought out! & at the End of the Day --> Pay Off!

The filter base has steel threads while the body is aluminum.

The filter base of the cat filter is also aluminum.

I have literally installed hundreds of these filter and have had not one issue with it galling.

I put all the filters on hand tight.

Once the seal makes contact about a half turn and that’s it have never had a leak or one come loose.

Just to clarify, I purchased the same kit last summer and the base head and the base threads were aluminum.

    https://dieselfuelfilterkits.com/13_...ilter_kit.html

My solution was to replace the kit head with this one, with steel threads from Western Diesel.
