Are you talking HID's? Led light bars? Pods? Tail lights? Headlights? Replacement bulbs?

Try to be more detailed in your questions and include the details about your truck in the comments. Eliminates allot of unnecessary comments. Thanks. The Management

    Re: Lights

Lights can sometimes be a very hot topic. I went through this a while ago, trying to figure what was best for my truck ... and make me happy.

After reading a ton of articles and customers comments, I found there are a few things that are in the center of the topic.
    1. Cost
    2. Installation ease and complications
    3. Longevity of lights
    4. And for some .. not being so bright they blind the on comming traffic or the traffic they following

.. these were the most common discussed.

In all, the end results were no matter what anyone got, they felt there they were not bright enough. Seems due to the cost, the expectation were .. they were having was landing lights off a 747 installed on their Dodge truck.

My '06 had the standard halogen headlight that came with it, and I was dwelling into this traveling cross country travels, prefering covering as much as I can at night. I found you can get brighter HID lights than LED, but the installation issues, replacement parts while traveling, and cost were to much a problem for me. Plus to convert to HIDs ment replacing my headlight housing where the LEDs were a plug and play item.

LEDs were my answer. Cheaper in price, easy to install, getting the bright white lights very very much improved my vision at night, looks great when on at night .. but like the HIDs, not easy getting replacements on the road if needed. This last one is the only big issue for both of these style light. And the cost factor for carring a spare for either is a taste expensive.

Now forget the brand I bought, I found this topic can start verbal wars with spite between people. But I do recommend no matter which way you go, buy from a company that stands by their product, been a round a while and have good reviews. The company I bopught mine from falls under this, and they guarantee them for life.

I highly recommend the LEDs, bright white for long haul travel at night. And they are still a plug and play for your year headlight housing.

Also: when I stopped for a break one night, a guy came up to me at the fuel station saying I needed to adjust my headlights. After a discussion, I found that they did not shine in his eyes, did not blind him ... he just wasn't use to seeing such .. clean .. bright lights behind him. THEY WERE NOT THE OLD STYLE ... DIM ... YELLOW ... LIGHTS HE WAS USE TO all his life. I believe I talked him into converting. And after our first trip, my wife had to have them on her truck.

    Re: Lights

Before making the jump to a true HID-projector conversion I was running LED bulbs in factory housings. Having run all 3 on the same truck I can confirm that HIDs in projectors provide the best useable output by a significant amount. But this comes at a cost as outlined by @AnOldBiker. LEDs are a nice middle ground because on most trucks they are direct swap in place of halogen. But if you ever go with a proper HID setup you will never be satisfied with anything else.

What HID brand did you go with?...or what brands provide a proper HID setup? I've been running GoRecon HID setup for a couple of years but I've had lots of issues with them. Therefore, I've been researching about other HID brands.
    Thanks
