Weekend update...
Needed to get the long arm brackets mocked up, and the weld in bungs located so they can get welded in. To get this done, we had to remove the control arms. Before we could do that we had to install the transfer case indexing ring. This was fairly simple except for the bolt on top of the transmission - transfer case that I could not get a wrench on with the transmission / engine / transfer case in the stock location. To solve this I dropped the transmission very slowly and after dropping it a couple inches I got the wrench on the nut and it came off.
To see what the indexing ring does, here is the before...
Rented a transmission jack to get the transfer case out and it worked perfect. $40 for the rental the 2 hours of pickup and return was well worth the cost. If you are doing this kit I would recommend it. I did not realize it but you can tilt the platform left and right and front to back which makes getting it back in much easier. Having the right tools makes all the difference.
back in the truck, you can see how much it drops the output shaft to the front.
Got both the long arm brackets mocked up and the the weld in bung holes drilled, riv-nuts installed and we are ready for welding which I am having someone else do. I don't have a welder and have never welded before so I did not want this to be my learning experience.
Next weekend I am out of town, so hope to wrap this up the following weekend and have some pictures for you all.. stay tuned.
