    16 ram sub wiring opinions

Okay, here's the deal. A couple months ago I got subs in my car Instead of making boxes like I had planned time wouldn't allow so I ended up picking some ae boxes up with JL 12s in them for a very good price. Witch left me with my Rockford 500w mono amp (had plans on doing 1 box and a 10) I wired them into the channel individually. I'm almost positive they are dvc so they are bridged in the box. However, I'm not all that impressed the more I listen to it at higher volumes. The boxes are approx .5 cu ft and they were were professionally put together(for what that's worth) My question is would I get any benefit wiring the 2 subs in a series, then to the amp? I know it would lower impedance, allowing the amp to put out the most power. I just don't know if I'll gain anything. If it was my guess there isn't enough airspace. Just my thoughts, but no one else seems to complain.

    What model subs
    What model amp
    Dimensions of the enclosure.
Are the chamber's individually sealed or open to eachother? Or a ported enclosure

    Enclosures are way to small!

They need around 1.25 cu ft each sealed
Sealed will give you more crisp sound which JL is better known for

Ported they need 1.75 cu ft tuned between 28 hz to 32 hz
Will give you a little punch

    Single 2ohm coils
Wire down to 1ohm for your amp. You'll get approximately 225-250 per sub

Personally I'd put them in about .75 - 1 cu ft sealed
And 1/2 to 1 pound of polyfill in each enclosure

Well there's not much room to modify them! LOL and there's not really larger enclosure options that I know of

You can use the ones you have if you can't manage any bigger. Go to Walmart or a hobby store. Get polyfill. You can get a bag about 2-4 pounds
If it's about a 4 pound bag put half in each enclosure

That will make the subs think they're in a larger enclosure

Also how will it make it sound better if there's theoretically no more airspace

The correct size enclosure and larger are more efficient. If you're close to the correct size let's say .75 - 1 cu ft. And add 1/2 pound of polyfill
It will scatter/disapate the air inside the enclosure forcing more airflow forward. And changing the overall sound of the sub
Rather than a dense sound from the wood you'll have a clean deep sound similar to a ported enclosure without having a larger ported one
