    Ticking sound

    My truck have developed this ticking sound that comes and goes. I do notice that pressing the clutch in does effect it. The research I have done has pointed me to the thrust bearing and main bearing seperating. Anyone else have this sound or have had it fixed before I roll bearings in a truck with 16k miles? https://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/5901220f...062935_002.mp4

    @ranger1987 I noticed it is a 2016.
    Bought it new ?
    If so, have you taken it to the dealer yet ?

    I can barely hear a ticking ... but it's there. I never had this before nor heard of anyone else have this. But I'm hoping if it is a problem, this is a warrantee issue and costing you nothing.

    PSSSS: is there any other conditions, like a difference in the trans performance ? Engine performance ? ?????

    Re: Ticking sound

    I found on the other forum someone with the exact same noise and it ended up being the thrust bearing. I did buy it new and deleted it after the first tank of def. I'm not worried about the warranty as I will do the work my self and the cost of the parts is minimal. Apparently clevite has an improved thrust bearing design over the cummins oem part. No noticeable difference in truck besides the noise and it did it with the stock and valair clutch I have now.

    Re: Ticking sound

    If you step on the clutch and it goes away it's more than likely a through out bearing.
    (Thrust bearing is on a crankshaft)
    As it's worn in space increases in the rollers and start to tic as clearances increase.
    Later it may rattle as miles and miles accumulate. They can loose position on seat and contact the pressure plate. Then u get pulsation when stepping on pedal.
    It takes alot of abuse to get that far so if you hear a little tic it's nothing to worry about.. You will more than likely wear out your clutch before you ever come close to that.
    I would definitely have it looked at. But wouldn't worry about it too much
    In the old days through out bearings would only spin when pedal was depressed. These days they ride the fingers of the pressure plate and spin all the time.
    Usually clutch, pressure plate, through out bearing are all replaced at the same time as maintenance.
    That's my 2 cents for what it's worth
    Have it looked at for sure but probably not a concern
