Start simple. Pop it back open and make sure you got everything lined up right. Also, try a different battery. No telling how old they are. I haven't had to change for my truck but the Durango fobs eat batteries. Never had an issue after replacing batteries.

Got 11 years on mine and works every time.

I agree with @Power247, open it again and check it out.

Also check for hand oils on the surface of the contact points, this could possibly cause an issue.

Like to know what happened to yours since it could happen to others.

Are you sure its transmitting a signal ?

I find a good way to extend key fob battery life is to take it OUT of your pocket whenever it's practical to do so, especially while sitting. The buttons are likely getting "pressed" more than you think! I'm in my office and someone will tell me my alarm is going off, or my lift hatch is up on my Grand Cherokee.

I swear this is true...So, I had lost a key fob to my 14 RAM. It sat in the garage for over a month without any use. So, I go to fire her up, and she's dead....it's "someone stole both batteries" dead...So I'm checking for all kinds of parasitic drain to no avail. A few weeks later I found the parasitic drain....The missing key fob was living under a couch cushion in our great room, constantly waking up the truck's BUS when people would sit on it! LOL.
