    Put an inline breaker in. I've never tried putting one going to a starter but shouldn't be a problem

    Find out how many amps you're drawing. You can buy breakers for car audio but you could use one in this application

    I know this is old but how about putting a switch to the wire that gives signal from the throttle pedal? It would turn on but wouldn't move anywhere.

    I was just reading the Owners Manual for some other stuff and noticed for extended storage it recommends removing the ignition relay (I.O.D. relay) that is in the fuse/relay box under the hood. A little more cumbersome than a switch, but for occasional use it might be handy method.
