    Vp44 trade

My ol 99 5spd was totaled about a month ago. An i purchased a 02 6spd that sit up over a yr an while trying to get cranked back up it through code 1689 i did all the stuff to fix that code an still wouldn't start . So used the vp44 off the 99 an it firedd up. The one thing i noticed right off was that it dont acceralate like the ol 99 did. Is there a difference in the 99 pump an the 02 pump?? Other than that everything seems ok runs great.

I'm not a professional on this topic, but after sitting for a year or more, are you sure it's the replacement VP44 ? If the pressures are high enough and constant, it might be fine, but then there's the rest of the fuel system that needs to be looked at. Is it clean and flowing properly ? The lift pump running properly ? What's in the fuel tank ? And then there's all the other components on the engine. And more codes ? There could be a possible 1,000 different possibilities. Was there any issues before the truck starting sitting that could have effected it now ?

I agree with old biker it could be a whole hell of a lot of different things also the VP 44 was the worst pump they had ever used one heck of a lot of problems with them

I know there is a difference between a pump for a manual and auto but I think the pumps are the same for 98 to 02 I just replaced mine

But your ECM is different so programming for the pump might be different

The only difference in pumps is between the HO (6 speed ONLY) and the SO (all others).
