Will Tunes Work With OBD2 Unplugged?

    I have a 2016 RAM 2500 I am looking to delete.

Can the RaceME tuner obd2 be unplugged while holding the tune and not giving any codes?

I know the unlock needs to stay plugged in.

Are you asking if you can unplug the tuner completely and drive like that?

I am aware on the 13s and up that the unlock cable needs to stay plugged into the ECM.

Can the obd2 be unplugged while the engine is running and not cause any problems?

As long as the tune that you want is flashed to the truck, you can remove the tuner if needed.

BUT I wouldn't recommend going for a long period of time.

Just briefly to pass the OBD2 inspection.

So it can't have any codes.

My other question about the tuner is can the unit run without the screen plugged in and just the dongle and wires hooked up?

    Thanks

You should be good, with no problem at all.

    No codes should follow either.

I've been running mine without anything plugged in for 2000 kilometers so far.

    No problems at all.

I haven't got round to running the ECM unlock cable through the firewall yet and have been running it through the open door and plugging into the OBD to change tunes.

    Not a single problem yet.

And that's how it should be if everything is deleted in the ECU as RaceME advertises.

It can be completely removed after the tune is loaded with no problems.

So the unlock does not need to stay plugged in?

    Only while tunes are loaded.

    I did not know that.

    Thanks

    Correct!

Though if it runs through the firewall, I see no reason ever to unplug it, but that's just my opinion.

You won't be able to load tuning or do any RT changes without it plugged in.

But once a tune is loaded in the ECM, it's there to stay until you change it.

    Everything could technically be removed.

This is also how a person can tune up to 4 trucks with one unit.

You just need to purchase more VIN licenses.
