I was so happy with my 15, it "had" a plastic shield under the oil filter, I left it in place and found that the mess created justified removing said shield. It was a pain to remove but I will no longer have the 4 to 5 day oil drips from my trucks frame. Now it is a straight through shot from underneath just like my 06.
Hmmmm? I'll have to look into that further.

My '16 is the same way but I don't think its just a plastic shield that can be removed. I found that using Geno's filter cap is the easiest method to changing the filter without making a mess. You can remove the filter from the engine bay, but you need to remove the piece of your intake that goes from the airbox down to the turbo. Time and mess wise my vote is going with Geno's filter cap. Spend the $20 and save yourself some headaches.

Get some quick clamp's after your first change there worth there weight in gold. Through the worm gear clamps in the trash
Air filter takes 2 Min to remove. Oil filter is in plain site

Or buy the filter cap from genos, go through the hole in the inner fender that is already there, (no cutting), and save 2 minutes. To each their own I guess. Takes me about 5 minutes to completely change it out with a new filter that way.

Tried the air filter removal sorry took me longer to remove than going thur the side with zip lock bag. I have the 2014 their is a metal sheild so I can't go from underneath.
