    Re: Tuning and the AISIN

Anybody have any new feedback on tuning with the Aisin? There doesn't seem to be very many Aisin trucks running tunes. I am in the process of picking a tuner for my Aisin equipped truck, leaning heavily toward Ray. Has anybody experienced any issues towing while tuned?

Running RaceMe Ultra on 2016 3500 Aisin... 15k miles on truck, 3.5k on delete and tune.... Running +120hp, 1850 rail pressure, 23 degree timing, back and forth between quick and economy spool depending on circumstances, but this is not my DD...

The Aisin seems to hold my settings very well... Never a shutter, mostly smooth. There is a bit more sensitivity with the converter locked it seems, over the 68rfe. Certainly a bit more shifting if not on the correct throttle points, for me.. No radical driving, just the occasional bog and pull on the +120hp.

I've still got a lot to learn about what I'm looking at with the RaceMe monitor, but surely loving the egt probe display. I do get some wah wah wah's occasionally in cold ambient Temps, even after a 170° warm up, I'd like to attribute that to the tuner like many others

Just chiming in with a first post as a tuned Cummins peddling the Aisin 69, with hopes to see further development on this thread..

    Re: Tuning and the AISIN

    Hello everyone.
I'm new to this forum Just wanted to post my own experience with a tuned truck and Aisin trans. I'm running a MM3 with Anarchy tune, 5" turbo back exhaust and AFE air cleaner. the truck was deleted at 102K and I now have 123K on it without any problems. This truck is my Daily driver and I deliver portable shredders with it that weigh around 17K. I drive it normally on the 100HP tune and tow on 75HP. What I have found is the Aisin has to re-learn when you change your tune settings (which seems to take about 30 miles). After owning a 2003 tuned with a built 48re and a 2012 tuned with a built 68re, the Aisin is far superior for towing! Not a shudder, clunk or overheat even through the MOAB in Utah. This is my experience and I'm very happy with it!

    Welcome to the forum!

I’m running emissions intact - EGRless tuning with my Aisin and loving it so far. Previous two Cummins powered trucks both had the 68RFE. One of those was deleted and tuned. My experience is similar to what others above have said. The tuned 68RFE with trans tuning did shift a little quicker but it would also do some weird shifts at times under a load. That one started to slip while towing my 18K lb toy hauler up steep grades in the Colorado rockies. With the 68 I was always having to back off it a bit on steep grades to keep the trans from overheating. With the Aisin hooked to the same load going up the same grades, the trans never overheats and I can keep my foot in it all day long. Now all I have to worry about is my engine parameters (EGT’s, boost, etc). I’m keeping the Aisin for the towing because it’s awesome for what I need.
