    Doing my first oil change today. Making sure I've got some things right.

    Oil capacity is 12 quarts on the 6.7?

    What oil are those who are tuned using? What filter?

    Anything out of the ordinary with the 6.7 I should expect? Ive always done my own oil changes on previous vehicles and it always seems there a little trick or surprise along the way.

    Get a fleetgaurd filter and be prepared to pull or break something on your body getting the old one off that you will swear has been welded on somehow! Ha Ha

    12 will do the trick and I wont give brand or weight advice but I'd go over to bobtheoilguys site and spend about the next week over analyzing oils, weights and drain intervals like I did.

    What year is it?

    Is there any sort of crush gasket that goes on the drain plug? My past two vehicles have had the gasket made into the drain plug.

    @Geno's Garage
    This is where I get all my filters. I'd also order the fumoto drain valve to replace the oil plug, and they have a really cool filter capper removal tool that I need to get, and your gonna wish you had LOL.

    Despite being from Iowa, RATLIN'HP is correct! LOL

    I got out of there as soon as I could...

    Skip the fumoto valve and get the quick drain with the green hose. Much better and I feel it's much safer.

    Np real tricks other than getting the old filter out without a mess. You need a 3/8 ratchet to remove the plug. There's nothing special there either. The job is pretty straight forward.

    Many use Rotella either T5 or T6 for oil.

    I just want to hear the words he said when he took the first filter off.

    I still believed they put mine on with a 2,000 pound impact gun. And the words I used was the same as the saliors use when getting to shore after a two year deployment at sea. Took me a long time to stop hating the people working the assembly line.

    Filter wasn't too bad actually. What was bad was when I popped the drain open and the oil rushed down, and hit the drain pan with such force it deflected off the pan and doused my entire right side with hot oil. Got me from my head to my waist. After I threw my shirt and hat away as well as wiped up about 4 quarts of oil off the floor I was good.

    And people wonder why I highly recommend a Fomoto Drain valve installed on the 1st oil change.
