Specifically in NC the HB 2 legislation states that in government funded facilities it would be illegal for a person to use a bathroom, shower, locker room, dressing room, etc... that is marked for a person of the sex opposite that is stated on their birth certificate. This bill has nothing to do with the private sector, only public government funded facilities... which includes public schools .

I'm old fashioned and hold to conservative Christian values and thereby support this bill.

The Department of Justice, under the Obama administration, has given our governor till tonight to repeal this legislation or lose Federal funding for schools and highways. The DOJ says this bill violates the civil rights of the LGBT community.

Our governor has supported this bill from day one but has said yesterday he was looking at all options... but would not let North Carolina lose Federal funding.

Personally I say give the LGBT folks a he/she facility, but let the ones clearly marked Men only and Women only stay that way.

How do you folks feel? I'll make no more comments on my position, but I welcome yours.

I choose not to support stores such as target because of things like this. I try to shop at stores that carry things made I'm the USA. But more importantly I support stores that I know have Godly morals and this Ray, is why you can sure count on me for being a lifetime customer.

Don't trample on the civil rights and safety of other folks to give a certain community wants. That's the thing about all these arguments. In order to not compromise the civil rights of one group, you compromise the civil rights of another group. Either way, someone is going to get their rights diminished.

If the business and government won't fund the addition of another bathroom in existing buildings. Make the community that wants to use those services fund it. If they decide they don't want to fund the changes, they didn't need it that badly. Problem solved.
I agree. Why does the 1% always get what they want? What about the rest of us? I'm not going to let it be at my expense of having to worry about my sisters seeing a guy in the women's bathroom.

Has anyone read the civil rights law covering this ?
It doesn't cover this so call groups civil rights, at the time it was
written, it wasn't covered or considered in the bill.

I'm old and believe ... if God determined you swing at birth, go to the mens ...
if God determined you don't swing at birth, go to the females.

But this will go on and on until they shove this down our throats in the future. So keep voting each election or it might be sooner than later.
Don't worry I'm old fashioned too. I'm only 23. I grew up in a relatively small town. Now I'm at UNC for school and I can't believe how far left people are down here. I got an email from a classmate saying how offended they were when I told a buddy they were acting queer. I had to explain to them that if they look in Websters they would see queer actually means just acting odd and not to take every word as slang. If you want to sleep with the same sex have at it but doesn't mean I have to agree with it.

Harry Truman was president when I was born. Never thought much of government until Kennedy was killed. Still remember what I was doing that day.

That is when I really learned and noticed what was happening in our government. Been basically pi$$ed off since. Seems we kicked out a King once before to get a great nation and the king(s) is wanting back, in the form of 2 political parties. I know many are upset with The Donald running, but this is what we might need to get us on the right track again. Been 50 years in the making so it will be decades to get it back right.

I do blame my generation and the following generation for the way it's going. Many raised their kids teaching to respect, work hard and use common sense ... but many didn't and left their kids believing they are owed everything, and took sensitivity way to far. If my children were that spoiled, I'd knock them in to the next county ... into 'the county of real life and reality'.

I've seen many other countries and their style of government. I still believe we, the United States of America is still the best. But I also believe we the people must take the government back, and it looks like the voting people of this country are seeing the light and wanting it back. Thank God.

There be changes in the Democrats and Republican parties ahead lads ... great changes ahead ...

Very well said! I just hope we can get it back to the really great nation it once was and had Godly principles. I tell my parents they say this nation in its prime. (Hopefully I will be proven wrong.) I am all for helping people when they need it but not those who won't help themselves. When people are drawing unemployment why not make it a requirement to either actively seek jobs or train for a trade. We can give a man a fish and feed him for a day or teach him to fish and feed him for a lifetime.

Look at McCrory paying back all the debt the lady governor before him (before my voting days, can't think of her name off the top of my head but I think Beverly Pardue) borrowed 3 years early! Saved 280 million this year just in interest. Don't people realize the US debt will have to be paid back one day?

I'll admit trump wasn't my first choice (my guy dropped early) but I still agree with a lot of what he says. Best part is he can't be bought. What I'm afraid of is there are so many people wanting everything handed to them that Hillary will win. How has she not been indicted anyways? If someone can seriously explain it to me I would appreciate it.

(The fact politicians spend more time campaigning than working for us is wrong. Not to mention Obama care doesn't apply to government officials says something wrong. All laws should apply to them. The fact they receive lifetime salary after serving a 2 year term makes me furious.) Sorry just a little rant.

Also, I apologize if this is too much of an opinion for this forum. I'm not trying to spark arguments or disrespect differing opinions just giving mine. So if stuff like this needs to be restrained please let me know. I'm new here.

    God Bless!
