The install looked good but so little oil gets past the CCV filter that it was really more for piece of mind than anything.

You can get the same benefit but just changing the filter a little earlier in its life cycle.

Aint the whole point to not have to buy another expensive filter?

That specific response was in regard to leaving the CCV filter intact and adding the catch can.

I guess technically you could leave the CCV in longer with the catch can in place but, to me, the CCV filter isn't that costly vs adding a catch can.

But.....the added sealed and baffled catch can will allow the scavenging affect of having the hose routed through the air intake and won't pass along the oil to the compressor side of your turbo housing.

It's an add on, so you'll still need to replace the factory CCV filter, but you won't have oil going through your compressor housing.

The whole point of doing this is to keep oil out of the turbo, not so we won't have to change a costly filter.

I get what you're saying, and just because I don't see the value in the mod, doesn't mean there's no value.

We're all here to share and learn from each other's experiences.

Be sure to post up some pics once you get the catch can installed and share how well it's working for you.

My point was that this isn’t about money, it’s more about prolonging the life of your turbo.

If you want to think about it that way, you could rationalize it as the cost of the catch can will prolong the life of your turbo.

    Yeah, absolutely man.

Some things are done to prevent degradation.
