You could put the motor where the trans is if you wanted, but I think about the weight distribution on the suspension. The 4BT and Gen will weigh as much as a big v8. Putting it direct to the axle with a TEFC, puts the weight on the wheels where it's needed. Need a long skinny motor. You don't need the trans at all. Torque is all pedal power. The newer drives may have an ability to flip a switch for all torque and no speed. Using a VFD in AC, you can control the heat. It converts AC to DC to AC again 30 HP motor at 460 VAC would use 3 #8 wires.

    Take that Chevy Volt.

Could you imagine getting 100 MPG?

I've got it all thought out. No place to work

    it's not the same AC/DC that you are. . . .

If it was DC, you could control a single motor with the engine speed. The whole idea is to keep the engine at one speed. It's most economical state

Would a 3 phase 35 hp motor work? I have one powering some hydraulic pumps at the moment.

A C Flang motor would be the best to work with. It's made to support it's own weight horizontally
