How to bullet proof a 24v

So being that im about to purchase 2001 HO 24v with the nv5600. I'd like to "bullet proof" it. I haven't seen any threads on here detailing necessary upgrades.

First step, I know everyone says upgrade the lift pump. Ok but what brand, what gph, what kit. I'll be ordering gauges to keep an eye on fuel pressure as well as pyro and boost.

I have no plan on making this a race truck. Just a good, solid rig, that i don't have to worry about on road trips.

Everybody chime in. While I have the money Id like to do the necessary upgrades now

    Fass is a good choice.

I went to remote dual oil filters. Not that expensive bypass set up, just 2 stock filters side by side. I am absolutely amazed how clean and how long the oil stays cleaned. I'm almost 5000 miles and I can still see through the oil on the dip stick. Not to mention the ease of changing them. My set up cost around 300 with all the hose and fittings.

As I recall, there is a pump gear key upgrade. It may be done already with all those miles

    2003- 3500 RWD Automatic.

50 HP tips, upgrade to 351 turbo, 3.42 gears, Twin air compressors, air bags, Remote dual oil filters, Hellwig sway bar, Front Winch. Home made Fuel Heater, BD Exhaust brake with Torque Lock. Tons of TLC

What's the pump gear key do? Does the titanium kit come with everything needed to install? Including draw straw and what not?

Is there anything else to bullet proof these things or extend life?

Fass comes with everything needed, and I agree with above that it's the way to go. I'd suggest to set the straw to the side and get a sump. So much easier to deal with.

I'm sure your already planning on changing all fluids. If not, I would. Synthetic seems to be the way to go. One of these years I'll get that dual oil filter rig myself.
Run the overhead on it early on too.

The keyway on the injector pumps can shear. Spenser can probably tell you more about it. there is an upgraded key for it available. @Canadiandiesel

Not sure on the 150 kit. I know the 95 does not use the draw straw. It connects to the original pickup tube.

Here. Maybe this will help you. You'll need to read these anyway

    Damn kids. LOL

Been going on for years. It's caused by the constant hydraulics going on with the injectors opening and closing. CP3's don't have that problem because the rail acts like a buffer and absorbs the energy

Only way to damage one is when your putting the pump into the engine. I've seen pumps with 200k miles and the key look like new.
