    Shop Review in Calgary Canada

I know this is a subjective question but I am looking at deleting my truck...hopefully this week. I've called what seems to be the main two shops here in Calgary

    Big Dig Performance

    Diesel Performance Specialists

What is everyone's opinion on these shops? Both seem very polite and knowledgeable over the phone, both came in at the same price...within a hundred dollars and both can get me in when I am ready and have it done in a day.

The only difference was with Big Dog. When I said I had heard that one should not run the stock program with the 2012, he admitted he had not idea as they tell everyone to either stay on street or tow unless they have head studs.

The other thing was Big Dig said I should go to Dodge first to have the turbo/VGT cleaned first as this is one of the leading causes of failure post delete. He said if I do this first, I'll be good with the accept ion of the head gasket and transmission being weak points.

Diesel Performance Specialists did not answer the first question but in fairness he had to put me in hold for a second so he may have forgot I asked. They never mentioned anything about having the turbo cleaned first.....

    Thanks for any help!!!!

We have not had any experience with these shops, but maybe some others can chime in for us.

No huh.....nice to know as this is going to cost an additional 500 dollars!!! He said that one if the reasons there was engine failure was due to the turbo and VGT being dirty pre-delete and that is needs to be cleaned before I do anything.

Guess I better go read up on turbo cleaning, however I can see soot buildup on the vanes, run it hard and it will clean itself,

And pull the oil drain from the turbo stick a Allen key up into the hole and tighten the set screw which controls the vanes...

Do you have any recommendations of shops or opinions on the two I mentioned....assuming you are from Calgary

Not Calgary, I'm in leduc, do you have to use Calgary shops? I'd rather you drive all the way to red deer and deal with armor, and I haven't heard anything good from dps personally. .

No, I might be able to swing Edmonton as I have a lake cabin near Onoway but Red Deer may be difficult unless I spend the night..
