    Re: Transmission Fluid?

My rule of thumb when buying a used vehicle is: I constantly change all the fluids and filters, check the brakes, grease, etc., as soon as I bring it home.

Then I knew it had been done and got acquainted with the “new” vehicle.

    Cheap insurance.

I remember people putting sawdust in rear ends and manual transmissions as mask problems.

To each his own, but those are my rules.

2021 Ram 3500 DRW, H.O., bypass oil filtration, bypass coolant filtration, S&B CAI, 4:10’s
    2wd low loc kit.
Reacquired 2001 3500, 5.9 nv4500, dually cab and chassis, 5” straight pipe, edge juice w/attitude. Otherwise all stock…..for now.

I don’t know what happened in my above post, but you get the idea.

Do all maintenance immediately, regardless of what the previous owner claims was done.

Looks like the server's auto-correct took over your post.

Sometimes it does a great job and makes things clearer, but other times it muddles the waters.

Hopefully, you are not constantly changing all the fluids and filters, LOL.

Just a word to the wise: don't make the mistake I did and use the internet amount of 6-7 Quarts.

I drained mine, and it was so slow. The way I did it, I just left the thing draining overnight.

Came back the next morning to an oil pan that was overfilled.

I dropped in 7 quarts and drove it down through the neighborhood, got it hot, then I rechecked it.

It was a quart low, so I added a quart.

Drove it 4 hours the next week to my son's house, and it threw a transmission code of low fluid.

I rechecked it, and it was off the stick?

Letting it free-drain for hours pretty much empties everything.

I added a total of 14 quarts, I think, to get it midway up the stick.

    Lesson learned!!

    NO IT'S NOT A HEMI!

I think it’s wild that RAM says to change it like 120k or something like that.

I just hit 55k and am going to be changing it soon.

Just not a fan of the pan not having a drain plug.
