Almost time to do my transmission fluid.
I have a 2022 RAM 3500 SRW, which I will be towing a toy hauler this season.
Wondering what transmission fluid people run.

Valvoline makes the napa brand ATF+4.
So whichever of those two is on sale.
This recommendation was made directly to me by RevMax a few years ago.

Revmax has an interesting take on fluids.
They won't or can't say why they "think" it has to be +4 only and not +4 compatible.
At UCC in Indy, I was talking to the HSS guy cuz I want to run their trans fluid on the next change.
Was talking to him about RevMax's stance on the matter and got the HSS guy to walk across to the RevMax booth and have a convo.
I'll be running HSS +4 compatible on my next change.

I believe the +4 concerns are mostly due to frothing issues and gasket compatibility so with a specialty fluid brand I'm sure they have anti-frothing agents in it.
My 2¢ is it's just not worth the added cost.

Does it have the Aisin?
I am certain it takes its own fluid.

I just changed mine on my 2015, and it looked just as bright red as what I took out of it.
I used O'Reilly's ATF4 synthetic as recommended by my RAM dealership.
This was the first time changing my (2) filters and fluid.
I have 99k on the clicker.
NO IT'S NOT A HEMI!
I am way over my service interval for the transmission oil change in my 2015 with 144K miles.
I bought my truck used with 50,000 miles, and supposedly it had been serviced, but I highly doubt it.
No issues with the trans so far.
Would anyone recommend I change it?
Or should I not mess with it?
I've been told not to reuse the oil, but to change the filters instead.
Any recommendations?
I don't change mine personally.
I've never not had one fail almost immediately after.
It seems like it's too slippery for the worn items or something.
I've always felt that it needs to be serviced every 10,000-15,000 miles or not at all.
I'm sure that if I knowingly cooked it, I would, but beyond that, I treat it as a lifetime fluid and put that savings into a planned refresh at regular intervals.

Since the prior maintenance history is unknown, I would recommend changing the fluid and filter.
