So I traded in a 2018 Long Bed 8" BDS lift, 37" tires, etc.
On basically an identical truck with everything being the same except 45k fewer miles and a G56 transmission (35,000) on the truck I currently have.
I've searched multiple forums to see if anyone has the same experience I'm having.
I understand the G56 is louder than other transmissions that Dodge has run.
However, the 5th gear issue is sometimes extremely loud (I've added more fluid).
I'm waiting for the SAE 50 I ordered to get here to try that.
My biggest concern, however, is starting in 2nd gear.
I have to ride the clutch without giving any throttle for it to move without sounding like I'm running over a goose. (Makes a honking sound) wish I could describe it better, but that's what it sounds like.
Also, is it normal for a G56 to act like a rocket ship in reverse?
I'm not sure if the clutch is stock or aftermarket.
(Dealer couldn't answer a lot of those questions.)
It has an aftermarket gear shift that is 25" long, stainless, and resonates with any sounds coming from the transmission a lot more.
I'm not new to standard vehicles I had a 98 2500 in high school with the NV 4500, Tocoma's, samurai, S10, and jeeps, even if the clutch ever went out on any of those I never heard the sound this G56/clutch makes taking off in second with throttle applied, or you just easing off the clutch and not riding it at the bottom.
Anyone's insight would be appreciated.
