Thread: Dynatrac Ball Joint Issue?

    Dynatrac Ball Joint Issue?

OK, please chime in on your experience with Dynatrac ball joints.

I got 65k out of these, and now it's popping badly.

No offroad always babied Georgia roads, not horrible.

Kinda mad they didn't last longer than OEM.

Now i have to rebuild them.

    Is Carli any better?

I've had great luck with doing the EMF ball joints.

The Thuren guys got me on to them, and they've been solid for me even with all the abuse I give them.

    Re: Dynatrac Ball Joint Issue?

I'm doing the Dynatrac rebuild kit this weekend.

After this, I think I'll try EMF.

You and thuren responded, so I looked them up.

    I'm digging their product.

They are reusable and can tighten up to gain some miles out of them if popping.

The rebuild cost is low, and there are new internal races.

The Dynatrac cup insides will probably wear out after a rebuild.

I'm not happy with Dynatrac at all junk.

    Thanks for the reply, bud.

I don't know if you got a bad batch from Dynatrac, but I have been running Dynatrac ball joints for about 8 years now.

Close to 90K miles on them.

I grease them every oil change.

    I have 35" tires.

My rig also sees gravel roads on occasion,n along with driving in farm pastures.

She may look good, but she is not a garage queen.

Same, and it's not like they are hard to rebuild.

I run them in my Jeep on 37s that I actually wheel, too.

    Re: Dynatrac Ball Joint Issue?

    No offroad at all.

Good roads here in georgia and only got 60k miles on them.

I guess this is a bad batch, LOL.

I received my rebuild kit and took my drivers side apart friday.

Well, the upper shaft was ate up, and the bearing stayed in housing, and the shaft came right out.

Worn where the bearing is supposed to sit.

The new bearing wouldn't fit snug onto the shaft as it slid right on very loosely.

So I called Dynatrac and have a new set of uppers and lowers shafts, too!!

$260.00 more their reply is as it happens sometimes.

Well, it sats that in your videos, website, or instructions, and the customer can make a choice to order shafts too.

Maybe a kit with shafts for a better deal.

    Take note from EMF, maybe.

So now the truck is down until i get shafts.

i just wish they acted like they gave a crap. maybe a discount or something.

    Re: Dynatrac Ball Joint Issue?

How are you greasing the lowers?

I had to order a 4in needle grease adapter to go through the ujoint to get to lower grease fitting.

Gotta take the weight off while you grease, too.

    Re: Dynatrac Ball Joint Issue?

This may be why they failed.

I've never greased the lowers due to the very inconvenient access to the lower grease fitting.

Just now have a 4in needle fitting.

    It's too late now.

Dynatrac says it's not necessary but has grease fittings. very contradictory.

Maybe now that I'll be greasing them, they might last longer.
