    12V Dash Light Power Source?

    Good afternoon!

I'm looking into removing the MM3 monitor and replacing it with an Autometer EGT gauge, and it's got a wire that needs to be connected to "dash lighting or switchable 12v light source."

I don't even know where to look to find this info.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

I've looked up fuse panel diagrams, too.

A couple (F49 & F88) reference the instrument panel cluster, but I assume that's more than just the backlighting so that it would always be energized.

I found a fuse (F101) that supplies the auto-dimming mirror, which may only be energized with the headlights.

    Thanks for the help!

You could tap into the Orange/Gray wire at the headlamp switch and dim with the dimmer switch.

    See the attached wiring diagram.

The other option would be to tap into the cigar lighter circuit and add an AutoMeter dimmer switch.

    Thanks, Bob, that’s super helpful.

I’m glad I asked if I went with what I had thought of, but then it wouldn’t have dimmed with the rest of the dash.

    Thanks!
