So, I got the dreaded P0871 code, but I put it in manual and drove the truck for a little bit against my best judgment.
I got the incorrect gear ratio code for 4th, 5th, and 6th.
I took a trans-fluid sample and sent it to Black Stone for analysis.
These were the comments: “Universal averages for this type of transmission show typical wear once about 40,000 miles have accrued on the oil. Here, we're finding quite a bit more aluminum and iron, but if this oil run was longer than average, that might not be cause for concern. Wear metal accumulates with use, so if this transmission shifts normally, we suggest checking back on a known interval for another look. The viscosity of this fluid was right on target, but note insolubles were above the 0.1% limit, so we suggest an oil change to prevent those turning the oil abrasive. Check back.”
I think in my heart, I know I probably ruined the clutches, but part of me wants to replace the valve body and hope for the best.
I just ordered EZ Lynk to check my CVI.
