    Re: 68RFE Replacement / Gears?

    I have a 2022 2500.

    I re-geared to AAM 4.44s a few months ago.

AAM is the oem supplier for ring/pinions.

I'm lifted on 37s and very happy.

Cruising at 65mph around 1800rpm 75mph is around 2000 RPM.

I don't know much about gears except what I am being told.

So what is the best company to go with?

Also, do the trucks come with a limited-slip differential while at it, or would it be wise to add one when upgrading the gears?

    What about running 5.13 gears.

I will be putting in a stage 2 transmission.

I run 22s with 38s as of now with a 5 in lift.

I am going to an 8 inch lift.

Will 5.13 be better than 4.88?

With 4.88 gears, you can easily run 40" tires; that said, I would say 4.56 gears wouldn't have an issue running 38s at all.

Check to see if you have the anti-spin differential on your rig.

I'll edit this post with the link Toyotatech posted a while back.

The anti-spin differential is similar to the LSD, but it's not essential to have if you're not running an open differential.

As far as best, it's a toss of a coin, man.

I would suggest Nitro or Yukon gear products; that's just me.

If it helps, my 91 Yota, with a 3.4L V6 and 4.88 gears, easily runs 38" Patagonia tires with the R151 5spd transmission with ease.
