It's a good, solid start so far, bud.

I'm pretty pumped for myself, installing Yukon 4.56 gears on the 28th to help compensate for the 37's.

I've never done gears, but I heard from 3.73 that it would gain a lot of low-end back.

How tough is the gear upgrade?

Are any crazy specific tools required?

Depending on how well these 3.73s work, I may be moving to 4.30 or 4.56 on 35” tires.

I'm having a reputable shop do it.

I know my limits, but this is one project I'll leave for an expert.

For 35's, I had no issues with the 3.73 ratio.

From what I can feel, I'm getting robbed on power down low until I hit 4th gear, and she pulls well.

My fear is it's putting way too much-unwanted strain on the whole drive train.

I was going to go with Nitro 4.30s, but they had a crazy long backorder.

They suggested Yukon, which is odd as they are their competitor.

Yukon doesn't offer 4.30's, so the closest ratio was 4.56's.

If I were to tow heavy, they suggested 4.88s.

I paid the additional 100 bucks for the no-questions-asked warranty, for if anything goes wrong or I forget to fill a differential up with fluid and roast the gears, they'll send all new parts free of charge.

You want to register the product within 30 days from purchase.

I also got front and rear covers from them that look pretty slick.

All in all, it was 2100 and some change.

$1800 bucks for install labor, though;\.

I'm not sure about the redline gear oil I got from them.

    Redline "shockproof."

I have 4.56 gears in my garage and planned to do it myself.

    It doesn't look too bad.

I have the service manual, Yukon has instructions, and there is always YouTube, LOL.

I need to get a few special tools, but ever since I put new 38s on, the added rubber over the worn 38s that were more like 36" has been dragging the truck down.

I hope the gear change will help the transmission shift better.
