They are surely proud of that sensor.

The only thing that doesn't make sense is the absence of codes.

This tool shows pending, stored, and permanent codes, and there are not even distantly related codes for unplugged mass air.

I agree, I just checked mine, and with the MAF disconnected, I do receive a pending P0102 trouble code.

On the second start, I received an active P0102 and check engine light.

The truck starts, runs, and drives generally without issue.

How did you make out with the OEM MAF sensor?

Did it help with the EGT issue?

I went to swap them today and didn't have the key, LOL.

I'll update you when I go back in a few days.

    I just wanted to update.

The issue the whole time ended up being the mass air flow sensor.

From smokey turd to clean driving machine just with the mass air flow sensor.

The truck is now much more manageable on EGTS and comes up on boost at about 500 rpm sooner, making less than half of the smoke as before.

The torque curve also feels as good as before; the truck seemed almost on or off, and the exhaust brake strategy is more normal.

I was never happy with the tuning from DRD after the 2nd gen swap.

I even asked for a couple of revisions, and it ended with him seeming to think I didn't like the way a non-VGT was, but now I think it was just the sensor that went out the day I finished the swap, and it never through a code.

When I started and drove it, it was good, but then there was a loud pop, and it felt sluggish afterward.

I think it must have been something with fueling on account of the filament getting sucked out.

Thanks for the update, pleased to hear the MAF sensor fixed all the issues.

Still odd that you didn’t get a trouble code with the MAF unplugged.

    Agreed.

Apparently, the only thing that sets a code is an MAF reporting flow with the engine off, in my case.

It's probably something to do with the tuning.

Maybe the code has been removed from the ecm file to keep a flow-related code from being set since the intake tube is now 5-inch and the cross-sectional area that the MAF references are different.
