Tuning With An Existing Tune?

Hey guys, so I bought a 2016 RAM 3500 with Aisin.

It already has a tune on it, but I don’t know who the tuner is, and no device came with the truck.

I want to put DRD tunes instead.

What do I need to do to be able to do that?

I have the old MM3 tuner with the old tunes for my previous 15 RAM 3500 that I had.

I understand I need to unlock the tuner and buy new tunes.

Will I be able to tune this 16 RAM even tho it already has a tune on it?

Or will I need it back in stock to be able to do that?

I appreciate any help you can provide.

Unfortunately, DRD tuning is no longer available due to the EPA.

Yes, you will be able to overwrite the old tunes. If you can’t retrieve your stock file, you may need a recovery file.

So, to my understanding, can I write a new tune over the existing one?

Do I need to have the stock file or not?

Your tuner may ask for your stock file to create your tuning so you can check with them.

A recovery file can be created if necessary to load your new tunes.
