    How To Monitor MAP Sensor?

    Can we monitor the MAP sensor with an MM3?

    Is it monitored via "boost pressure"?

    I seem to be maxing boost out at 27 and change on a wot pull with an empty truck.

    600ft elevation, 35' F.

    VGT desired an actual match.

    No error codes or cel.

    2015 / RAM / 2500 CTD-68RFE-4wd / 3.42 / stock tire size / Silver / Bighorn

    Yes, the MM3 monitors the MAP sensor via boost pressure.

    I'm unsure if it will monitor the MAP sensor signal voltage, but a good scan tool will.

    My boost pressure maxes out at just over 30 psi at sea level @ 40*F.

    Let’s see what others say, but I wouldn’t worry too much about 27 psi.

    If it bothers you, then I would pressure test your intake system at the turbo to check for any small leaks.

    You should see a mid-30 psi boost pressure, even on stock HP levels.

    Any boost leak will hinder power, and what's also associated with a leak is increased EGTs.

    Intake horn, intercooler clamps, loose or cracked tubes, exhaust manifold gaskets, turbo flange gasket or loose studs, cracked manifold" in stock" from expansion and contraction from heat cycles.

    Cold motor and a soapy spray bottle.

    Hit all areas with the bottle, and start the motor; if you see growing bubbles, you find a leak.

    I live at sea level, and generally, this time of year, it ranges from 30's to 50°.

    If all pans out ok, I would be curious about the readings for fuel rail pressure.

    Yes, the boost pressure sensor voltage should be below 2V at idle and above 3.5V at wide-open throttle.

    Your maximum voltage on the MM3 was 3.875V.

    @z28-50 your 3.875 V reading is most likely a reflection of the 27 psi boost pressure.

    I expect the voltage reading to increase to almost 5 volts at 35 psi.

    You could try cleaning or replacing your MAP sensor, but you must also pressure test the intake system to verify it will hold 35psi without any leaks.

    I will be out of town before I can get after this.

    Bob, how are you testing to 35psi?

    The tester you link to is for 30psi max.

    There may be other testers that will allow testing at higher pressures, but basically you are safely checking for any small leaks.

    Utilizing the tester in the link at 30 psi and spraying the hoses and connections with a soapy water solution to check for leaks should be sufficient.
