    CEL Codes: P003A - P226C - P2262?

Hey everyone, so a day or two ago, my CEL gave me these codes: P003A, P226C, and P2262.

The truck has lost power and will only boost up to about 11-12 PSI.

It also seems like my EB is not working.

I HotShot OTR, so the truck is always under a load. I run a 53' step deck with my 2022 Ram 5500.

This is the first time I've gotten these codes.

The truck now has 204,545 miles on it.

I want to try to diagnose the issue myself before spending a lot of money having the dealership look at it for me.

I only go there because I trust one of the master techs to be honest with me.

He's helped me walk through repairing other things myself when I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere on the side of the interstate.

He thinks I need a new turbo, even if it is just the actuator.

He says I've gotten an entire life span out of the turbo and should replace the whole thing.

What are your thoughts on his suggestion?

I'm trying to return to the West Coast, as I was in South Carolina.

I am loaded, but it's a light load and not a wind sail, causing the truck to work extra hard. But it's been slow due to barely any boost.

I've been easy on it, so I don't get stuck somewhere.

What are some things I can try myself to diagnose it?

I wanted to stop by Harbor Freight and see if they have a Turbo Simulator Regulator and a new compressor, as mine recently retired.

I can check for leaks that way, but based on the codes, I think it's the actuator or possibly soot/carbon buildup.

Any help or suggestions will be much appreciated.

    Thank you.

With that many miles on it and being you are hauling heavy most of the time,

I think your friend is correct and just replaced the whole thing.

That turbo has served its purposeful life.

There is no sense in nickel and dime throwing parts at it.

Harbor Freight is the store, and the simulator is this thing.

It helps simulate the system under pressure to find leaks in the system.

I agree with Watersupply189 and your mechanic friend.

With your trouble codes and the mileage, replace the turbo and actuator.

No further troubleshooting is required at this point.

Ok, so I have a question then.

Would buying an OEM turbo from a dealership or an aftermarket one be the smartest?

    The truck is completely stock.

(Although I wish I knew where I could go to get mine to be more reliable without everything that kills these new trucks.)

Is there a good turbo to buy that will last and be good under constant tow?

The stock Holset actuators usually go out before the turbo.

I would recommend the City Diesel actuator with their turbo.

@DDP, please quote the OP price and availability and any other good options for continuous towing.

    Happy to help!

Thank you, as always, for the tag.

So when you purchase a full turbo and actuator from the dealership, you are charged for who knows what and why, LOL.

We can get new and reman OEM Holsets, our in-house upgraded actuator, or the City Diesel actuator.

The same goes for the turbo options as well.

We offer our brand, "Hooligan," which is upgraded and comes with the City Diesel actuator or our in-house actuator.

We can also put OEM Holsets on there.

Are you free for a call today, by chance?

Call and ask for Clayton "Myself" and let them know we have been talking on the forum, and Preston will forward it over to me : )

I sure can't locate this on the harbor freight website.

I wonder if they still sell it.
