I’ll try anything at this point.

You’re so right about these ghost noises.

This one is driving me crazy.
    Any update?

Re: Ringing Sound From Wheels Comes And Goes?

Strangely, today, I went to the gym and ran some errands. I drove about 30 miles, 45-55 mph, which is usually the range I hear the ringing, and I didn’t hear it today!!

It made me more worried now cause I’ve grown to expect it, and today it’s not there; now I’m thinking something is wrong.

I will tow a light load of about 10k later this week.

    I’ll keep you all updated.

    Thank you.

Mine were the stock brake pads.

    Went to Powerstops.

    No more squeaky!!!

We just take a screwdriver and poke it through the rim spokes and give it a little push inward.

    Hello, I have a 2018 3500 DRW with a strange ringing sound.

It seems to start around 45-50mph.

If I tap the brakes, it stops, then will come back.

If I turn the wheel side to side while driving, it'll stop, then come back.

I had both front hubs replaced because of a bad bearing in October while towing my fifth wheel in AZ, but I'm pretty sure the sound had started before that because the first time I heard it, I thought it was coming from the RV wheels.

I pulled them off, and the bearings, hubs, and brakes were all good.

The only change to the truck before that was six new tires installed in September.

    I appreciate your help!
Update: I towed 10k about 60 miles today.

When I turned the wheel right, the noise started, even slightly correct.

Then, when I turned the wheel slightly left or tapped the brakes, it stopped.

It’s about time to rotate the tires so that I can check the back plate and brake pads.

Are there any other ideas I should consider while I have the wheels off?

    Thank you!

As mentioned, I can only think of the back plate and wheel hub bearings.

Update: I had a stuck caliper.

It wasn’t bad enough to heat up the rotor, pull, or smell bad, but it was just enough to make the pad scrape off and on.

Replaced caliper, pads, and brake line cause it had a slight kink.

Since that was done so far, so good.

Also worth noting is that the first caliper installed was bad out of the box.

    It would not release!!

I returned it for another, and it is working as expected.

Thank you to everyone who responded with advice and expertise.
