Ringing Sound From Wheels Comes And Goes?

    Hello, I have a 2018 3500 DRW with a strange ringing sound.

It seems to start around 45-50mph.

If I tap the brakes, it stops, then will come back.

If I turn the wheel side to side while driving, it'll stop, then come back.

I had both front hubs replaced because of a bad bearing in October while towing my fifth wheel in AZ, but I'm pretty sure the sound had started before that because the first time I heard it, I thought it was coming from the RV wheels.

I pulled them off, and the bearings, hubs, and brakes were all good.

The only change to the truck before that was six new tires installed in September.

    I appreciate your help!

Does it sound like a metallic scrape or squealing?

It could be a bad pad up front or back, and the tabs are starting to contact the rotor.

A high-pitched ringing sound, not so much scraping or scratching.

I’ve had the tires off of everything except the right rear duals checked to make sure nothing is between the pads and the rotor.

Maybe I have to pull those.

Thank you all for helping out!

I would check those wheel hubs again.

Even though you just replaced, one may have gone bad.

    Which brand did you use?

    That’s a good idea.

I don’t recall the brand; I'll have to check.

Strangely, I'm pretty sure the sound started before I replaced the hubs.

The first time I heard it was towing 15k fifth wheel on a good straight road in NV.

I thought at first it was my fifth wheel, so when I got stopped, I pulled all of those wheels and checked bearings, hubs, brakes, etc, and they were good.

I still have the sound even when I’m not hooked up.

The sound could have been an echo or magnified by the fifth wheel hanging over the truck's rear when towing.

    Maybe rear wheels?

It doesn’t hurt to check those too.

I hate chasing down ghost noises, LOL.

One thing you could check is the dust covers on the brake backing.

I replaced my brakes on another truck I had and accidentally bent the backing ever so slightly, which caused it to rub lightly against the rotor.
