2021 RAM 2500 50K - Code P0871?

2021 RAM 2500 6.7 diesel, deleted with DRD.

I drove it onto the highway, and the RPM went crazy; the trans wouldn't change gears.

Also, the light was on, so I stopped and restarted the truck, then drove normally.

I went home, checked the codes, and found P0871, U010E, and P2609 (Grid heater deleted).

Is the quality of RAM so bad?

Three years later, the truck has got a trans problem!

The worst thing is I deleted the code by mistake; now, I cannot drive to the dealer and ask them to check.

You most likely have a bad valve body.

Hopefully, the dealership will cover it under warranty.

If you still have the emissions components, you may want to return the truck to stock before taking it in.

I went to a trans rebuild store, but I can read what I read through ODB reader: $90 for this diagnosis.

I don’t want to put them back and plan to make some upgrades to it now.

VB - Revmax
Bypass valve
Deep pan

Any suggestions?

If you're going with a VB, go Revmax.

As far as a pan, IMO, it's just personal preference.

RevMax has the by-pass kit also.

If I replace the solenoid, I will need a "PI Curve relearn" checked online, but I cannot find any helpful info.

Shall this relearn have to be performed by the dealer with the lock code?

See the link below for more information on the PI Curve quicklearn procedure for the 19+ 68RFEs.

You will need access to wiTECH software or a visit to the dealership.

I don't know if a Snap-on scanner has the capability.

Hopefully, others can advise.

Finally, I finished the job by myself.

OEM trans pan comes with no change port, so prepare to be a mess around yourself.

After it is done, the code does not come out again.
