I'm currently 250 miles from home for work in Yuma, AZ.
I unfortunately had to drive my POV.
The truck was running flawlessly; this morning, when I was leaving work, the truck would not shift out of 1st gear.
There was no CEL at this time.
The truck would finally shift to what I believe was 4th gear at around 2100rpm and 20 or so mph.
I limped the truck back to the hotel I was staying at, turned off the engine, and re-started it.
When i then put it in drive, I saw the number 4 next to the D symbol (my lockout switch on the shifter does not work and has not worked since ive owned the truck).
The truck would act as if in neutral.
I cleared the P0700 that has not come up.
The truck went back to holding 1st gear until 2100ish rpm.
I limped it back to work with the same issues (1st gear to 4th at 2100 RPM).
Now, it's showing the P0871 code.
OD Pressure Switch rationality.
I am stumped because there have been no signs of slippage or abnormal shifts until this morning when I left work.
What is the fix for this?
I have access to minimal tools, and a tow home is out of the question because of the distance.
Google has returned many possible issues, from a pressure switch to a valve body to a whole transmission.
I am just trying to narrow it down so I can at least get the truck home.
When I clear the code, the trans continues to be in "limp mode," and the light will return after a bit.
Truck is a 07.5 6.7L Cummins 236k mile, Magtec hightec pan.
Deleted/tuned running RaceME Ultra box tunes with transmission tuning.
Before making the trip, I did a fluid and filter change.
Trans fluid was dirty, but I didn't see any metal flakes.
Transmission has been worked on at some point before i purchased it.
It has a blue TRQ converter and what looks like a valve body plate.
Other than that, I am unsure what has been or has not been done to it.
Update- I did check the fluid level in the transmission, and it was good.
Any help would be appreciated.
