Exclamation What MM3 Tuner Package Do I Need?

2015 RAM SLT stock at the moment.

I will undergo "weight reduction" along with a Glacier intake horn and heater grid delete.

Other than the straight piece of exhaust (keeping the muffler), that will be the extent of mods for now.

Primarily looking for longevity and MPG, but who doesn't like a bit extra pep?

As long as it doesn't start tapping into longevity.

This rig is my DD, stop & Go /redlight traffic for about 10 miles, then it opens up to 70-75mph highway for another 10 miles.

    That's the daily drive.

I only tow (under 8k lbs) about ten times per year.

Should a 60hp tune do for all, or should I try 90hp and 30hp for tow?

I don't think I have any use for anything above 60hp or maybe 90hp.

I don't want to stress anything, and the Cummins seems capable of what I need, even bone stock.

I like the 5-tune package but don't want two higher HP ones.

Can we sub those for a sound tune?

Re: MM3 Supply Chain Shortage (Limited Stock)

The tuning packages can't be customized, so you must pick the one that best suits your needs.

I went with the Lite Package, which has six HP levels and only used two.

30HP for heavy towing, 90HP for daily driving, and slightly better fuel mileage.

If you decide to go with a single tune and never plan on towing any more than 8K, I recommend the 60 HP.

    Right.

These are exactly the two options I'm mulling over.

Have you ever run the 60hp tune?

If so, did it offer any mileage gain?

Also, have you made any mods like head studs or just run the 90hp on a stock 6.7L?

I just noticed you mentioned “keeping the muffler.”

You must remove the DPF and SCR, then “add” the muffler.

Re: MM3 Supply Chain Shortage (Limited Stock)

I run the 90HP tune with the Aisin transmission and stock head bolts.

I have tried the 60HP, but the 90HP seems to be the sweet spot for me.

The mileage gain is minimal, possibly 1-2 MPG.

Your right foot will significantly influence your MPG and truck's longevity.

    Now you have me wondering.

    I have a DFP/CAT delete 4" pipe.

The shorter one, not full length.

Doesn't the muffler slip on the back of this?

The race pipes I have seen allow removing the DPF/SCR and must be cut shorter to install a muffler or resonator.

I went with the downpipe back system with a muffler; no cutting was required.

    No worries.

I also picked up a resonator, in case I want to throw that in.

I have the gear to cut and weld it as required, so it should be ready.

I'm usually fabbing on rock crawlers.

That ten times a year I tow, that's what I'm pulling, LOL.

One more question, if I'm not overburdening.

Can you save a copy/backup of the tune and stock files to your PC?

Just for safekeeping if ever needed in the future.

It's highly recommended to backup your tune file and stock file.

I have copies on my PC and in cloud storage and a spare duplicate SD card ready to go.

Never a burden, happy to help; this forum is a great resource and a wealth of information.
