Is it fine to leave the fuse unplugged until then?
I do have a speed sensor on order which will come to NAPA today.

Yes, just keep in mind you no longer have the “anti-lock” brakes feature.

I'm fine with that considering I had the added feature of "surprise-lock brakes" as the alternative.

When you perform your first full system scan with your new scanner put the fuse back in.
You will have set some trouble codes when you had the fuse removed so I would clear all codes then see what comes back after a short drive.

So my steering gearbox broke off today... Not sure if this is related LOL

Interestingly enough in that picture, you can see at least one both that is missing entirely. I'm not sure how expensive the gearbox is but I'm hoping it's fairly plug and play because I can do plug and play no problem

Never seen this happen before, looks like one bolt was missing and the others sheared off. Good thing you didn’t loose control and no one was injured. Please keep us posted.

Fortunately, it happened in my alleyway just before pulling into my house driveway. I ended up jacking up the truck by the front pumpkin and turning the tires by hand and then accelerating a little bit and then when the centrifugal force straightened out the tires, I jacked it up again and straightened the tires by hand. Thank goodness for power steering
I have gotten the truck in the driveway straight enough to be out of the alleyway and center aligned enough in the driveway not to let my OCD go crazy.
Now I need to figure out how much and how quick to replace that gearbox it is. Never done that before

While I have the brains here, is there any problem with going with a remanufactured gearbox? Or are there any brands that I should stay away from? I know sometimes certain parts might be easier to swap out from OEM than others, I'm just trying to understand what my options are and compare that to availability

Wow! Looks like you lost one bolt which put stress on the other two which caused them to snap off.
Is the gear box still good?
If it is, I would just drill out the other two bolts and buy new ones. That will save you a ton of money.
Definitely put some lock tight on the threads.
