Sometimes I can hear the where I would believe to be the heater core making a gurgling sound. Normal?

If your engine temp is from 150 to 190 the cardboard won't help because the engine is already warm what year of truck it could be a vent duck problem or the heater core you can always take the hoses off and run a garden hose threw it

Have you had the cooling system open recently? Wondering if it's air bound. I know this is going to be a stupid question. . . . (Look who I'm asking LOL) Is the rad full? Either one of those will give you the gurgling.

It's gonna be May soon. I'd like to get this figured out this season. LOL

The gurgling is typical of a 12 valve at start up.

Yea 97. Rad is full. I'm not loosing coolant either. My reservoir is still full. The gurgling will continue to happen even after start up. I just have to change positions and it gurgles. I was thinking about running the garden hose through. Just wasn't sure it sttaches

I would flush the heater core with a garden hose and that way you can make sure it is free flowing

Before you do all that, squirt some Dawn Dish Detergent in the Rad and run it for a while. It breaks the scale and sludge loose and keeps it suspended until you drain and flush. The Antifreeze takes care of any foaming
