    Front End Clicking?

I've been hearing a clicking sound from the front driver side, and I took it apart; the outside of the hub smells a bit like burnt grease, but the outer axle itself seems like the u-joint might be bad based on the lack of stability it has.

Can you look at this video and tell me if that would be a bad U-joint?

The entire outer axle was recently replaced, so it would be covered under warranty if that is the problem.

It just seems like it is too loose to be in good condition.

Here's the video for the play that the U-joint has.

Both parts are covered under warranty.

I need to figure out which part to replace, if not potentially just both of them.

    It does sound loose.

Since it’s under warranty, I would let them make that call whether to replace it or not.

Shouldn't that have that much play?

When I remember getting a replacement last time, the axle wouldn't just flop around like that.

Yeah, I wouldn’t think it would flip that loosely, being just recently replaced.

Is there anything I can do to verify one way or the other?

You know, I got to thinking.

Have you checked your wheel bearing hub for any play?

I just replaced it and took my old hub to Napa for a warranty exchange.

The front of the hub smelled like burnt grease, but the back smelled fine.

The hub SEEEMED to spin fine by hand, but I also am not 2500.

    Re: Front End Clicking?

After replacing the wheel hub, the clicking sound has gone away.

I've tried replicating it by making some slow sharp turns and haven't heard any sounds yet.

Should I still replace that u-joint because it's visibly bad?

Or if I don't hear any more problems, that u-joint might be OK?

I know that it's still covered under warranty, and I've still spoken with the dealership about it, and they are ready to replace it if need be
