2016 RAM 2500 - Falls On Its Face Under WOT?

Yesterday my tuned and deleted 6.7L Cummins with Suncoast stage 2 trans started falling on its face under WOT load.

It usually drives and has good power under normal throttle conditions.

Makes a boost to 28 lbs.

It seems to fall on its face around 2500 rpm under WOT.

I replaced my fuel filters yesterday and did an oil change for the hell of it.

Nothing, I cleaned my aftermarket air filter last month.

I also replaced the fuel rail pressure relief valve yesterday, as I read on some forums that may be the issue.

    The truck has 184,xxx miles.

    Can glow plugs cause this?

    I've never replaced them.

    I am just praying it's not CP3.

Not much help, but it doesn't have glow plugs.

I'm sure some of the guys here that are good diesel mechanics will try to help you.

I don't know if it's a "relearning" thing on the freshly programmed truck; it sounds like you went thrashing on it to see what power you gained.

All I could do was not too on my trucks when adding power.

    Hopefully, it's something simple.

Everyone says you must give the truck some relearning time before driving, as you stole it.

As I said, many knowledgeable people here will try to help you.

It's been tuned for 2+ years, and I've thrashed it the whole time.

Race tune on the MM3 all day, every day.

The truck is pretty well built.

I'm sorry; it sounded like you just did an upgrade or something.

    My bad.

My 04.5 did kind of the same thing.

My lift pump was going bad.

Have you tried monitoring and comparing the actual vs desired fuel rail pressure?

That's what it sounds like to me too.

The truck calls for demand and the pump can't keep up.

First thing I would check with only seeing 28lbs, check for boost leaks and verify the clamps on the intercooler tube is tight and no torn or blown out boot.

2nd, Check as Bob stated on the actual vs desired for rail pressure as well with vane position if you're a VGT setup.

3rd, Cummins are very well known for having spunky things to occur on low voltage " batteries or alternator."

If one battery is bad, buy two new ones, load test them to verify rather reading off the gauge cluster or monitor.

To see if it's a CP3 issue, unplug the only wire off the CP3 pump, start rig, "DO NOT HIT THE THROTTLE" as this will max your rail pressure out and will change the tone of the motor until you can check out actual vs desired on the pump.

If they are pretty similar, you're CP3 is fine.
