Thread: Sinister Diesel Bypass Oil Filter System?

Sinister Diesel Bypass Oil Filter System?

I may have asked this before but is anyone running one?

Obviously, I am considering getting it to keep my oil cleaner, and it adds a quart.

Is it worth it, or has anyone had problems with it?

My only concern is; I am running a 2nd Gen swap and don't want oil pressure issues or creating leaks.

I may purchase it if it's been a good kit for anyone.

    Thanks

I don’t have the Sinister oil bypass kit, but I am running the Amsoil EABP90 oil bypass filter with a different install kit.

The kit I have is from Oil Charge Systems. https://oilchargesystems.com/

The filter bracket was also engine mounted but held the filter horizontally.

The bracket lasted about three months before it broke from metal fatigue due to the vibration.

I mounted the filter head to the passenger side frame rail and fabricated longer oil lines.

Easier to change the filter, and no issues since 2019.

I have been looking at the Amsoil one and have seen good things.

I might go that route, and it's funny I am a dealer for Amsoil and didn't realize they had one till yesterday.

I saw a video yesterday of one of the Sinister kits' threaded parts where the filter threads backed off, causing his filter to drop, almost causing him to destroy his motor.

I said well, I am good not having that, LOL.

    I have the Amsoil kit.

I got the mount from a guy I saw on YouTube.

Puts the filter behind the front bumper on the body mount a slick setup.

    That's awesome.

I was going to post that I ordered a bracket from Don Smith.

That's his bracket, for sure, and he is accommodating.

I will post up his video of the installation, and you are right; it's a very slick setup, the best I have seen so far after searching.

His number is (563) 379-6536, aka Smith Automotive.

How many extra quarts did you get with the 90 filter by chance?

    Ok, awesome; thanks, everyone.

Now if I could only get the turbo, I'd been waiting to get this truck up and running.

Sinister Diesel Bypass Oil Filter System?

    I have the Sinister Bypass.

I like it and have no issues with it.

I could do without the bright blue. , but I would defiantly repurchase it!!!!

I like how the filter is right up on the engine but out of the way.

If you change both filters, it takes 13 1/2 quarts of oil to fill.

I saw a guy with the filter under the front bumper get in a little fender bender; it jarred it just enough that the filter seal started leaking; he didn't make it home.

I'm not slamming that filter location; just saying I like mine up under the hood.
