    WTB: Turbo Actuator, - 2012 6.7L Cummins

The P003A code started yesterday and won't clear.

    Thanks.

PS, not my only quote request for this part.

In our experience, P003A is a communication error caused by the actuator pulling enough amps to drop can bus bias overlap communication.

Look up a video on YT by searching "2014 RAM 2500 VGT Communication problem,".

This will go into the depth of what was found on that particular truck with the same code.

Following our install/diagnostics instructions by removing the actuator is the first step to determine if the gear has free movement.

However, remember that this will be tested at or near ambient temps, and the turbo VGT assembly operates at over 1000 degrees.

The hot temperatures will cause all the metal in the VGT assembly to expand and cause restrictions that may not be felt when testing.

The City Diesel actuator has amperage sensing and will park itself if too many amps are being used to try and move a gear that does not want to move.

The actuator will attempt to move again once the engine is turned off and restarted.

So, suppose a CD actuator is installed, and this scenario occurs.

In that case, it indicates that the turbo VGT assembly has restrictions, and the actuator is protecting itself from working itself to death trying to move a VGT assembly that does not want to move.

I hope this information will point you in a direction, but feel free to contact us with any further questions or concerns.

Thank you for checking with us.
