WTB: Banks Ram Air Or S&B Cold Air Intake

I want to buy a cold air intake for my 2020 RAM 2500 with 6.7L Cummins.

I was wondering if anyone has experience with the Banks.

I’ve noticed several people run the S&B.

They both seem very similar, but the S&B comes slightly lower in price than the Banks.

The factory cold air intake is better than any aftermarket out there.

Adding an aftermarket like Banks or any other brand doesn’t benefit anything extra except empty your wallet.

It also crossed my mind the benefit-to-cost ratio as well.

Unless you have added more fuel and need more air, you probably won’t experience any performance increase.

Wish the stock air intake had a plexiglass cover so I could see the filter element instead of removing the lid.

My lid hold-down bolts stripped out the plastic threads, so I installed the S&B; I admit it looks cooler.

2014 RAM 3500 (Aisin) 3.73 4X4 Limited Crew Cab Long Bed DRW. Oil Bypass Filter, Fuel Filtration Kit, Cold Air Intake, City Diesel Actuator and 50 Gallon Aux Fuel Tank.

I sprung for the S&B, knowing no performance upgrade, but it looks fantastic, and the exhaust brake is more audible with the side plug out.

I also use a pre-filter or filter sleeve for the DRY filter.

2021 Ram 3500 DRW, H.O., bypass oil filtration, bypass coolant filtration, S&B CAI, 4:10’s
    2wd low loc kit.
Reacquired 2001 3500, 5.9 nv4500, dually cab and chassis, 5” straight pipe, edge juice w/attitude. Otherwise all stock…..for now.

Let’s face it, guys, lots of aftermarket parts that do nothing for performance; we are “free” (at least for the time being) to spend our money how we choose.

What does the pre filter or filter sleeve do or help?

The filter wrap helps to protect the main filter from dirt, debris and water. You can easily remove the wrap and wash if needed to extend the life of the main filter. It will also repel and prevent bugs and debris from getting stuck in the filter pleats.

Figured it was something like that, if i decide to pick up the S&B I’m going to add that as well.
