To Wrap Or Not To Wrap My DP On 2nd Gen Swap?

    Hello forum friends.

On my Evil Fab 2nd Gen swap, the downpipe doesn't necessarily touch anything, but it's fprettyclose to the a/c lines coming off of the firewall, and I'm not sure how much heat will be generated in this area.

The turbo sits a little higher than I imagined, and the firewall's wire gutter was barely touching the downpipe clamp.

I removed the plastic gutter over the turbo and am looking for suggestions on what brand of heat wrap to use, what type of wire shield to use on the battery cable and the wires in the gutter.

I appreciate any help you can provide.

Does look very close to the wring tray.

No personal experience with heat shields, but I would install a turbo blanket.

Found some heat shield products on Summitracing.com.

    Hopefully, others will chime in.

To Wrap Or Not To Wrap My DP On 2nd Gen Swap?

I wrapped mine and used a thermal zero blanket.

I can literally put my hand on it after driving the truck hard without getting burned or even my hand getting hot.

Thanks so much for the replies!

I will look into that brand of turbo blanket, as the one that came with my kit seems a little thin and cheap.

What brand of heat wrap works best and is best for wrapping a downpipe?

Is the DEI brand any good?

I honestly don't remember what brand wrap I used.

I remember I got it at AutoZone, though, originally for an ATV exhaust LOL.

It was in the section where they have stuff for older carburetor engines and chrome stuff.

Personally, I think the blanket is the most important.

You should be fine with any wrap for headers, in my opinion.

When you install it, put the wrap in a bucket of warm water with gloves on, and it will make it easier to install.

The gloves will also help you not get the fiberglass particles in your skin.

For whatever its worth, I left my downpipe bare and nothing has melted so far. Just a turbo blanket.

    High mount S400.

You'll want to get something like this https://www.stainlessdiesel.com/inde...scription=true and some stainless steel zip ties.
