Squeeking Sound When Turning Off, On and Over Bumps

My truck has recently started to squeak when I turn it off (usually only after running it up to operating temperature and not when its cold).

It also makes the squeak sound when I start it sometimes.

Yesterday I noticed it made the squeak sound when I drove over a speed bump.

At first I thought it was the pulley or serpentine belt, as I have read about this causing a sound like this and there was a TSB on some models years back.

My belt looks good with no out of the ordinary wear at this point.

However, with the sound now also happening when I start it up and also randomly when I drive over bumps etc.

I am now leaning towards it possibly being an engine mount.

The truck is a 2012 and has just over 60,000 miles on it at this point.

Based on the age, would this be something that could need replacing?

    Thanks

Have you tried to pinpoint the source of the sound from underneath the truck with someone in the cab or by using a remote start?

Not sure why a motor mount would be temperature sensitive; however, it’s still possible.

I will try to get an assistant to help me try to pin point it.

I am just thinking motor mount since any vibration (shutting off or starting the 6.7L Cummins motor) or sudden bounce will cause it to make the squeak sound.

For sure will have to take a closer look and see.

    Just annoying at this point.

I would suspect the front sway bar bushings before engine mount, but you never know.

Here is what I could record today in my short time after getting home from work.

I couldn't get it to squeak loud enough on startup, but you can hear it quite distinctively when shutting it down.

I will see about getting under the truck here in the next few days.

    Cheers

Honestly, I could barely hear it, but I did hear a squeak when you turned it off.

It sounds like the belt is a little worn, even though you said it looks good.

Now how it could make that same noise going over a bump leads me to think it could be a motor mount, as you said, and not the belt.

Keep us informed if you find out what’s causing it.

Re: Squeeking Sound When Turning Off, On and Over Bumps

So found this online, and I will try it when I have more time/money.

It is basically replacing the pulley and serpentine belt.

I will try this first and then go from there since there could be two different things going on.

This does appear to be the sound I am experiencing on shutdown, even though it is a 5.9L and older generation.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in.
