I know it is possible, but I hope not; DPF/EGR removal is inevitable, so I figured I would start there.

The coolant pressure does not get high after a long idle or light daily driving, but following prolonged heavy engine load, it rises and dissipates pretty quickly once shut down.

Fingers crossed, it is the EGR; we will see.

Maybe a good idea to remove the EGR crossover tube and look inside for signs of coolant to rule out the possibility.

If the EGR cooler leaks and contaminates the coolant, soot could have gone to the heater core.
I would add the possibility of the EGR leaking coolant into the cylinders causing a hydro-lock situation.

It is rare but can happen as the EGR cooler sits atop the exhaust manifold.

The worst is if an exhaust valve is open when the engine is shut off, and the cylinder fills with coolant.

Bad news when it is started again if that happens.

This alone is enough for me to want the EGR gone.
