New Member Intro - 2016 RAM 3500 6.7L Cummins Aisin SRW

    Hello all, new member here.

I bought the truck to pull a 5th Wheel in December 2021; with the insane California diesel prices, I have only put 2K miles on it since I have other daily drivers.

Since I got the truck, it has had poor cooling in the cab, presumably related to a bunch of junk in the coolant, possibly due to an EGR cooler leak since the truck also has high coolant pressure.

Thankfully I am a Texas resident stationed in California, so I have decided to, at the minimum, delete the EGR and flush the cooling system to see if the EGR is the problem.

This leads me to need a tune and be unable to find anything I like.

I want the option to remove/install the EGR/DPF individually if needed since I do not know where I will be a resident post-military.

This all brings me here; I recently picked up an MM3 tuner and need a flexible tune that meets my needs; I am not after more power as I am happy with what the truck has, especially since my last one was a 1996 12 Valve all stock.

I am just looking to make the truck more efficient as it is, and the resulting power gains will be appreciated.

I look forward to the members' benefit and vast knowledge here.

    Current Issues:
    Soot-like substance in the coolant.
    High coolant pressure.
    Poor heat in the cab.
Cab leak, vent on the back of the cab.
The rear parking sensors INOP worked when I got it, but they quit.
    Parking brake INOP.

    Modifications Planned:
    Cab Lights
    Fog Lights
    Factory Remote Start
    Fuel Lift Pump Upgrade

    Glad to be here,
    Clay

    Glad you are here; welcome.

I hate to say this, but two of your issues can point to a bad head gasket.

Having high coolant pressure and no heat are the two.

Try running your truck like normal, then when it's warmed up, try squeezing your radiator hose up top. It should give.

If it's really hard, that isn't good.

Also, do it after shutting it down.

Once again, if it's rock hard, you more than likely have exhaust gasses pressurizing your cooling system meaning a head gasket.

Agree with all the above, but it could also be the EGR Cooler, as OP had mentioned previously.

Maybe a good idea to remove the EGR crossover tube and look inside for signs of coolant to rule out the possibility.

If the EGR cooler leaks and contaminates the coolant, soot could have gone to the heater core.

I have always liked white, and it just happened to be what I found for the right price.

I had to fly to Portland to get it, but it was well worth it.
