Thread: Fleece Coolant Bypass Kit?

    Fleece Coolant Bypass Kit?

Reading the instructions on this kit, and I had a question.

    https://www.fleeceperformance.com/fi...l-cummins.html

Does anyone have any experience with the installation difficulty on this?

Instructions mention nothing about dropping the trans, which I assumed was the only way.

It’s possible without dropping the transmission, but it's a little difficult.

You can access the freeze plug from the turbo side of the engine bay.

It takes some finesse, but I got it done relatively easily.

It was still a bear of a job, but I got it done in three or four hours, and I’m you’re average DIYer.

But if you’ll have the transmission out for any reason, take advantage of that and install it from the rear.

This kit doesn’t work with the factory EGR cooler, so that must go.

Unless you already have that removed, you’ll have to buy additional parts to remove the EGR cooler and install this kit.

I did my 2nd Gen manifold at the same time as this kit.

    My truck is a 2013, but I can’t imagine it’s much different than a 5th gen.

As far as functionality, it does what it’s supposed to.

Just using a laser surface temperature scanner, the rear of the engine block was about 12 degrees cooler after installing in 80-degree Fahrenheit weather.

    Good to know.

Looks like they came up with a better design for this system instead of the adapter plate.

Either way, Ill have to wait for the delete I guess.

I did want to do an upgraded TC and billet flex plate and planned to get this done at the same time, but sounds like all that has to get done after the delete.
