Re: Banks Monster RAM Intake Install (Stock Legal Unit)

Banks Monster RAM install #3 this Saturday, another red truck, a 2017 3500 SRW Aisan.

He also bought the red monster ram—figure about 3 hours total.

I have refined this perfectly, and I will post pictures.

    This should be it.

I technically have a 4th one, but it's a 2002 5.9L Cummins, so it's no big deal; it's a simple task, just an air horn.

OK, I will follow up with pictures.

From now on, I am keeping my mouth shut! (I couldn't do that to my buddies).

2010 Dodge 2500 SLT CCLB 4WD G56 Cummins 6.7 turbo diesel, 3.42 LSD. Add ons: Banks Monster Ram, Grid heater delete, Spyntec Free Spin Kit with Warn hubs (62672) Laramie Alloys (includes spare), "Powerwagon" Flares, Powerwagon bed decal (4X4 off road) OE Ram mudflaps, OE Slush Mats, OE Clearance Lamps, Geno's shift knob in black, 5" DPF back with muffler delete, spray in bedliner, OE brake controller, Durafit Seat Covers, Pro Tech Toolbox, Speed Turtle, Upfitter switches, Ham Radios, 8 Antennas, headache rack, emergency light bar,....

    Done.

Monster RAM intake #3 is done.

He didn't get a red one, as he said he was.

I like the natural; it doesn't look like stuff was added.

It takes about 3 hours, start to finish on these now.

    This is my last one.

I am doing a Banks RAM horn tomorrow, but it's a 02, so easy peasy.

    Sooty grid heater restriction.

    His bolt was fine.

Injector lines, rail, and intake manifold top off, freshly vacuumed out.

The surface is cleaned and ready to install new parts.

I consider this the halfway mark.

Intake top, rail, and lines in, ready for Monster RAM horn.

88% increase in air flow over the stock.

    Finished product.

    Final signature.

I am trying to decide between the Banks unit or GDP grid heater relocation.

I live about an hour from Canada, so I want a grid heater and am unsure if the Banks is enough juice.

My choice would be the GDP.

I, too, don’t think the Banks heater would be enough, I could be wrong, but I like things to start when it is cold out.

Agree; while the small screw-in heaters are better than nothing and apparently satisfy the trouble code logic, they only provide 1/4 the heat of the OEM grid heater.

The GDP Mega Flow grid heater draws the same current as OEM.

So you have done three grid heater deletes, but what have you seen when you looked at the nut?

Was it about to fall off?
