So the 2020 68RFE downshifts hard into 4 while cruising at low speed; depending on how hard you are on the throttle depends on how hard it slams into 4th from 5th only.

I don't have any codes, trans relearn didn't make any changes, and I have slow drive engagement from park to drive and reverse to drive for about 2 to 3 seconds.

The fluid does not smell burnt and has no signs of slipping.
    Is the truck tuned?

Does it downshift hard into 4th with the exhaust brake on as well?

    I have the same issue 2019 68FRE.

3rd into 4th is hard some times and 4th to 5th more than 3rd.

5th going down to 4th is very noticeable with the exhaust brake on.

I’m looking into getting new tuning w/ trans tune and trans to relearn to see if that helps at all.

So I have done the transmission relearn through a scanner.

It did not make a difference, and my accelerations did great no issues whether I was on a flat-out from a dead stop up to six gear or moderate throttle from a dead stop to sixth gear.

It’s only from fifth gear, town speeds dropping into fourth, and it slams in.

I think it could be a valve body issue.

Plan on taking it to a dealer to have it looked at.

Hopefully, it will have an answer by the end of the week or next week.

I will post up my results of what I get told.

@Chrisn162001 my 2021 has a hard at times 1-2 upshift.

I’m tuned at 0hp and stock TCM.

Mostly when I first start driving, but after I’ve gone through the gears a few times it smooths out.

Been trying to figure this out forever!

I have been seeing alot of the 2c snap rings partially popping out of there grooves more towards the ends on the snap ring causing the piston to lose its seal and leak when applying 2nd gear.

At first they seem to do what yours is doing hard 1-2 up shift then gets better the longer you drive and that’s because the computer adapts the cvi but then it gets to a point where it can’t adjust any more then sets a low cvi volume code for 2c.

May or may not be what yours has going on.

But I’m seeing this issue at least once a my 2021 has a hard at times 1-2 upshift.

Damn, I guess I better get my fluid changed and inspect the valve body.

By any chance would it cause a P0765 code?

I just realized this in not the valve body piston but the 2c clutch!

Is there a way to diagnose it? I see line pressure of about 120 on the 1-2 shift and 60 in drive, stopped.

I’m deleted so I’m not sure if RAM would even look at it.

No dealer will touch a deleted rig nowadays.

Unless you have a specific shop you know that is willing to help out.

Just have a trans shop scan the trans and look at your clutch volume index numbers and they can point you as to what the issue could be.

Should be minimal for a diagnosis for you.

Re: 68RFE Transmission Relearn With No Difference?

    Thank you!

The service guy at my dealer said they didn’t care if I was deleted and would fix anything as long as they couldn’t prove what I did caused the problem.

I’m guessing tuning the pcm would directly affect the trans and they could say no.

I’m surprised RAM hasn’t done some sort of recall, but then again I’m not.

I saw you posted the cvi values on here.

    Thanks for your help.
